VIP's..... April 3, 2010

When I say VIP, you might think of some “celebrity” carrying a popular bag or sporting an offensively over the top diamond chain.   However, I’m not talking about the latest oxygen thief to saturate our newspapers.  V.I.P. stands for Very Important Pieces, meaning the must-have styles from this season’s shows.  So, here’s my top 3...

Firstly, the shearling coat.  I remember a few years back, EVERY boy owned some sort of shearling jacket.  Corduroy, denim and even the odd leather were ubiquitous... let’s just say I was NOT a fan!

This season, however, numerous designers offered their version of the once popular garment including Burberry, Mulberry, CNC and Margaret Howell.  Maybe it’s my current fascination with the 70’s, but these labels have really turned the shearling around in my eyes.

Continuing on the 70’s path is the spate of new flared pants.  The trend made appearances at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Chloe, Pucci and Richard Nicoll.

My last VIP is the leather dress.  I think the easiest shape to wear is probably the

t-shirt shift shape, or for something more detailed you can go for a tight fitting number with heavy embroidery like Christopher Kane’s offering.
