The Life of Yves… March 25, 2010
Yves Saint Laurent is one of those labels that I think everyone loves. The man himself had a sense of design that was truly his own…
In Paris at this very moment there is an exhibition that chronicles his life and work - I am dying to go!
Too bad it ends in August and doesn’t run until October when I will be there!
The retrospective begins with his work at Dior, where he took over from the label’s namesake and seamlessly moved the brand forward by modernising the collections.
There is a room devoted to clothes that belonged to his muse Catherine Deneuve... even a section full of the iconic YSL suits!

Another room titled “The Last Ball” is filled with YSL evening dresses... I would love to sneak my way in there and take a few for my own wardrobe!
The last room displays folds and fabric and swatches that Yves kept during his long reign as a prolific designer. These document his processes as a designer and his methods; it’s perhaps the room I am most interested in seeing a rare glimpse into his great mind.
